My story
Hi, I’m Mikaela; a Yoga teacher, retreat host, and lifelong student of this beautiful, unfolding life. I’d love to practice with you—but first, let me share a little bit about how I got here.
I was born and raised on the island of Corfu, Greece, and after studying Corporate Communications and Languages in Paris, I found myself living in Latin America. It was there, in 2015, that I stumbled into my first Yoga class. Fun fact: I really didn’t like it. But something nudged me to try again. I started exploring different styles, different teachers—and slowly, I fell in love with the practice. So if you’re new to Yoga or unsure where to start, I see you. Sometimes it just takes one class, one teacher, or one moment to shift everything.
Over the years, Yoga became more than a personal practice—it became a way of life, and eventually, something I felt called to share. Since then, I’ve trained with teachers across India, Bali, Sri Lanka, and the Americas, shaping an approach that draws from both traditional teachings and modern perspectives on body, breath, and awareness.
My foundational training in Vinyasa Yoga took place in Mysore, India. I went on to study Yin yoga in Bali and Power yoga with Paul Teodo and Byron de Marse. Later on, I completed a 300-hour advanced training in Rishikesh, deepening my connection to the roots of Yoga and its philosophy. Alongside this, I’ve explored more ways of supporting others—through a Life Coaching training in Mexico and Sound Healing in Sri Lanka.
When I returned to Greece, I felt drawn to Paxos—a small island that had been part of my childhood and still held a quiet kind of magic. Practicing Yoga here felt different. It felt aligned. Creating Paxos Yoga Shala was a natural next step—a way to share the calm, the presence, and the sense of space I found here.
Whether you’re joining me for a group class, a private session, or a retreat, my intention is the same: to create a space where you feel supported, seen, and free to show up exactly as you are. My classes are open to all levels, and I always adapt to your needs and pace. Want to build strength and sweat a little? Let’s explore power yoga. Looking to move gently and stretch deeply? Yin might be just what you need. Want to connect breath and movement? Vinyasa is the flow for you.
Booking a class is more than just a workout—it’s time for yourself. A moment to pause, reconnect, and come back to what really matters. And what better way to be present on your holiday—or in your life—than to land on your mat, here and now?
I’m so glad you’re here. I can’t wait to meet you.
